Mitsukoshimae - Prestigious Department Store Mitsukoshi and The Heart of Bank Business in Japan

On my article Nihonbashi - The Starting Point of Japanese Roads and Leading Shopping Area in Tokyo, I introduced Nihonbashi(日本橋) Area, a famous shopping area in the heart of Tokyo.

Like Nihombashi there is also a historical department store around Mitsukoshimae Station(三越前).

Mitsukoshimae - Enjoy Shopping at Mitsukoshi, Traditional Department Store

The station name 'Mitsukoshimae' means 'in front of Mitsukoshi (Department Store)'.

Mitsukoshi was opened firstly as a clothing store 'Echigoya(越後屋)' by Takatoshi Mitsui(三井高利) in 1673, and then developed into department store in 1904 and became one of the most famous department store in Japan.

We can even now enjoy shopping many brand's shops at the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi(日本橋三越)'s department store building which was built in 1935 and have been registered as National Important Cultural Properties.
